The month of October continues with DAZ’s Platinum Club Anniversary sale and their crazy deals. Being October, they also put a bunch of monsters and Halloween ghouls on sale too. I just couldn’t resist picking up some of DAZ’s Monstrosities!
The
Infernal Behemoth is usually $19.95, but I got it for $5.99. He’s HUGE!!!
How huge? Let’s throw in a Genesis 2 Female in there for comparison. He could eat her for lunch!
Another Monstrosity that I couldn’t pass up was the
Undead Fiend. I just might be able to recreate the
DAZ Studio 4.6 Splash Screen after all! Again, I saved a ton on this guy. He’s usually $24.95. I got him for $7.49.
He’s a little taller than the Behemoth, but not as built.
I think putting them all together might make for a pretty cool scene. Maybe they’re Genesis’s bodyguards!
Let’s render that out and see how it looks. The textures are awesome. It’s hard to see the detail on such a small image, but believe me… on the native 2000x1125 render, they look awesome!
I scored the
Tomb of Helena in one of DAZ’s crazy bundles for DAZ’s Platinum Club Anniversary sale. (8 items for $2.99!) At that price, the set was only .37 cents. It’s normally $16.95. I swapped out Genesis for Victoria so I that I could use some of the new outfits, textures, and characters that I recently picked up.
That’s pretty cool, but it needs something. It needs weapons! It just so happens that I also picked up some
Oversized Weapons for the Monstrosities. I have plenty of fight scenes and grudge matches in mind, so some huge weapons are a must.
So how big are they? Pretty big! I also swapped out Victoria’s clothes for
Vandra for V4. It’s a little less Elvish and I think it’ll look a little better with the scene I have in mind.
A head-on angle too looks much better than off to the side. I really want you to see how big these guys are without playing any tricks with the perspective.
I dropped in a few lights and gave it a test render.
Originally, I was thinking that the Behemoth and the Fiend were Victoria’s bodyguards, but now I’m not so sure. Maybe they’re all protectors of some kind. I liked the way the red light looked behind Victoria. I though it would look really cool to beef up the lights and add some kind of universe or cosmos behind her. This is supposed to be a tomb, but maybe it could pass as some kind of portal to another universe. If they’re all guardians of some kind, then Victoria can’t just stand there looking pretty.
Let’s beef up the lights and give her some nunchucks and a cool stance!
That looks awesome!
Hey wait a second! They’re not wearing any pants! Talk about “the forest for the trees”!
The Behemoth looks like a man and a half, so he’s getting a kilt. No doubts there. The Fiend could pass as an undead-Spartan warrior. I’m not going to add all the bells and whistles, (shield, helmet) but I think he’ll look cool in a cape.
Now we’re talking! Whatever it is they’re standing in front of, you’re not getting anywhere near it!
I then took the final render into Pixelmator to add the “magic”.
I played around with a bunch of brushes until I had the effect I was looking for. Layer by layer, I added stars and clouds of various shapes and sizes. I then tweaked the color and opacity until I had a pretty sweet looking mini-cosmos.
And there they are: The Guardians.
I think this one came out great. Not bad considering I wasn’t even planning on making this. I just wanted to throw something together that I could use as the topper for the post! I had no idea it was going to evolve into a final piece! I still want to go ahead and make another one showing these guys pounding on each other. That’ll look sweet.
